News Stories can be written in various angles. This is a series that aims to bring to light, the rigours of editing. Its main aim is to broaden the horizon of the readers and aspiring new writers to see the various angles a news story can be written from. A news story can be written from any angle depending on the writer, media house, location and other factors. Carefully scan through each story to understand their different angles, then come up with your own angle.

Nani Boi Receives Awards At UCJ-UNN Induction Ceremony.

Mr Nnaemeka Eze, also known as Nani Boi was presented with an award of honour for gracing the induction event of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UCJ -UNN), on 29th June, 2024.

The Screenwriter and Author also received another award from the department of mass communication, represented by the department’s president, Mr Nnamdi Ogbonna. The award was presented to honour his impactful contributions to the growth of the mass communication department.

The event was marked by the recognition of exceptional student journalists who have made significant contributions to campus media.

Miss Success Wonodi, the former secretary general of the union, presented monetary awards to Miss Somadina Eleke, Miss Chinedum Asadu and Miss Ruth Akuma, for winning the broadcast challenge conducted by UCJ-UNN. In her speech, Wonodi congratulated the winners for standing out among their peers.

Miss Wonodi also presented a monetary award to Mr. Okoye Peter, a 200-level student of mass communication and UCJ-UNN member, for winning the maiden campus journalism award organized by CrispNG.

Awards were also presented to other distinguished guests for honouring the union’s invitation. One of such guests is Mr Chinagorom Ugwu, journalist from Premium Times newspaper.

Additionally, Miss Edeh presented awards of service to the union’s other past presidents, including Mr. Daniel, and Miss Patience Leonard. She also presented awards of service to the previous excecutives and recent graduates of the union.

The event was a celebration of the hard work and achievements of the student journalists, appreciating and encouraging their dedication to the growth of campus journalism.

200-level mass communication student and UCJ-UNN member Okoye Peter received Crisp Nigeria’s maiden campus journalism award at the induction ceremony and official website launch of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UCJ-UNN), held on June 29, 2024.The award, which was sponsored by Okeke Chibueze, the CEO of Gold Leaf ICT Centre, came with a cash prize of N10,000. Okoye’s story on the prevalence of cohabitation across Nigerian tertiary institutions and its attendant dangers for students was selected for its thematic relevance, originality, and depth of fieldwork.
